Compare soft gentle rain To a torrential rainstorm Compare the wealthy To the poor. Go from large colonial homes Where life is good To stinking tenements Where men endure. Hope is elusive there Whereas ambition and money Create possibilities For the lucky ones. |
Red-faced addicts with bloody eyes Approach strangers for help While the gentile dine at Sidewalk cafes. Those who struggle Contrast sharply With others Who have succeeded There is no common ground Here are two different worlds With nothing in common And nowhere to meet. |
